kunming metallurgy college (kmc), founded in 1952, is a public-supported institute of higher learning established under the directives of the chinese national ministry of education. it is also one of eight rated "excellent vocational colleges" by the same ministry and one of the sixteen strategically exemplary higher vocational colleges selected from the same level throughout the country. furthermore, kmc is one of the sino-germany higher vocational teachers'training centers in china, as well as the national innovative training base for higher vocational education nominated by the chinese inventors association. it has become a pioneering higher vocational college in yunnan. the college is now the provincial base for cultivating highly skilled technicians and in implementing innovative and experimental reforms in higher vocational education.
the total teaching staff of the college has reached 900, among whom 300 hold professional technical titles as associate professors or professors, 200 lecturers possess ma/msc or higher degrees. since 1999, more than 200 instructors have undertaken positions as chief or associate editors for several higher vocational textbooks and monographic books.
